Henrietta Carty Morgan Hansor

Henrietta Carty, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Carty , was born in Ridgely, Caroline Co., MD on 25 May, 1826 according to the Carty/Wyatt Family Bible.

Also according to the bible, on 27 March, 1848 she married James Morgan , a member of the Kent Co., DE mixed blood community. She is listed with James and her family in the 1860 Delaware census records living in Dover Hundred, Kent County.

James and Henrietta had the following children:
  1. Samuel Thomas Morgan (May 1850) married Elizabeth Sammons
      Samuel and "Lizzie" appear in the 1900 East Dover Hundred census with children:
    • Ernest Morgan- age 22 (March 1878)
    • Isaac F. - age 19 (Oct. 1880)
    • Thomas W. - age 15 (Sept. 1884)
    • Lizzie ("Elizabeth") - age 11 (March 1889)
    • Blanche - age 8 (May 1892)
  2. Roxanne Morgan (b.1853) married Dr. Thomas Cree Imes

  3. James Henry Morgan (August 1855/8? - Feb. 22, 1928)) married Hester Sammons, daughter of Elisha Munce and Minnie Sammons
      James and Hester appear in the 1900 Kenton Hundred census with children:
    • Herman - age 17 (Sept. 1882)
    • Jennie - age 15 ( April 1855) (d. 1967)
    • Lillie M. - age 11 (Oct. 1889)
    • Lulu - age 8 (June 1892)
    • Arlena - age 7 (December 1893)
    • Rosela - age 4 (September 1896)
  4. William Francis Morgan (b.1858)
    listed as "Francis" in census records but in his father's probate records, he is called WILLIAM Francis

  5. Napoleon B. Morgan (1860-1946) married Henrietta DURHAM

  6. Rosella Morgan (b.c. 1862) married Isaac Mosley

On 20 January, 1865 James Morgan died intestate. He is listed as living in Dover Hundred at the time of his death and Dr.Isaac Jump was appointed Aministrator of the estate. His widow, Henrietta, later remarried Cornelius Hansor .
After the death of her first husband on 20 January 1865, Henrietta married another member of the Kent Co. mixed blood community Cornelius Hansor . The 1870 Kent County Census record shows Henrietta and Cornelius together. Living with them are three of James and Henrietta's children : James (age 12), Napoleon (age 10) and Rosella (age 8). William Francis is missing as are Samuel and Roxanne.

Henrietta and Cornelius had one child: George Hansley (1867-1877). Young George Hansley is buried behind the church at Fork Branch , outside of Cheswold. He lies next to his half-sister, Sarah Ann Hansor Durham, wife of Benjamin Durham .

When Napoleon Morgan was interviewed by C. A. Weslager for Delaware's Forgotten Folk he told Weslager that Henrietta had said her mother was a full blooded Maryland Indian although she did not know the tribe.
