Hopewell Carter, Jr.

John Carter		 Hopewell Carter Jr. was the son of Hopewell Umphrey Carter and Sarah Catherine Ridgeway. He was born 18 April, 1908.

He married Lethia Coker , daughter of John Clayton Coker and Phoebe CARNEY, who was born on 22 August, 1912 in Dover, Kent Co., DE. They were married in Bridgeton, NJ on 27 May, 1929.

Hopewell and Lethia had the following children:

  1. Leroy Carter (1929-1987)
  2. Perry Walton Carter (1930- ) married Eugenia Gillick
  3. John Clayton Carter (1932- )
  4. Donald Carter (1936- ) married Bessie Bennet
  5. Evelyn Carter (1939- ) married Burt Schroeder

Hopewell died on 30 October 1967. Lethia died in Bridgeton, NJ on 5 November, 1986. They are buried at Fernwood Memorial Park in Bridgeton.
