William Washington Carty, the son of William and Elizabeth Carty , was born in Caroline Co., MD on 14 April, 1818. He lived all of his life in Caroline Co. MD, dying there on 3 August, 1880.

Sometime before 1863, William married Sarah Morgan , the daughter of William and Annie Sanders Morgan from Kent Co., DE. After her husband's death in 1800, Sarah Carter returned to Kent Co., DE were some of her children were already living.

William and Sarah had the following children :

3. Annie Elizabeth Carty (b.c. 1867) married George MOSLEY from Kent Co., DE
   
   They had the following children:

   • Elmira Mosley married Roscoe MILLER
   • Herbert Mosley married Anna GOULD

4. Elmira Carty (b.1869) married Robert B. JOHNSON
   
   They had the following children:
   • Rose Johnson

   • William Johnson

5. James E. Carty (b. October 1871/2) married Laura DEAN and then Emma Jane CUFF

6. Jeanette Carty (b.1872) married Elijah BENSON

7. Marion Carty (b.August 1874)
