The Coker Family originated in Maryland. The earliest known COKER was Philip Coker who was born sometime before 1745 according to Maryland census records. There is, as of now, no proof that he was the father of the younger generation of Cokers that appeared later in that same area but it is likely.

Daniel Coker was born in Maryland sometime around 1765. Moses Coker was born around 1764. Based on Moses' will we know that he and Daniel were brothers.

Abner Coker was born in Maryland around 1767. Right now, it is only supposition that Abner was related to Daniel and Moses but it is possible.

It was Daniel Coker who moved to Delaware to join the Kent Co. mixed blood community.
