Below is a list of some of the source materials I have used to create this website.
Numerous resources are available to genealogists working on Delaware families in addition to the wealth of information passed down through the generations including personal stories, bibles, photographs etc.
Churches have always played a central role in any community and are an excellent source of information. Unfortunately some records & graveyards are better maintained than others. In some instances, old markers have disappeared (if they ever existed), some are so weathered as to be unreadible.
A small e-mail group, composed originally of descendants of the mixed blood Kent Co. Delaware community, began several years ago. It has grown to such proportions that a special listserve has been created to service the growing number of researchers.
Web Sites of Interest- Specific Mitsawokett Families
John is a long-time member of the Mitsawokett community and has included genealogies of many of the families on his new website. Families to be included:Carney, Carter/Carty/McCarty, Coker, Concealer/Counceller/Councilor/etc, Cott, Dean, Durham, Handsor, Hardcastle, Hewes, Jackson, Morgan, Morris, Munce/Muncey/Muntz, Ridgeway and Wyatt.
The Durham Family
A site dedicated to the Durham Family of Delaware which includes members
of the family who migrated to PA, NJ and MI in the 19th century.
Betty and Ray Terry are compiling information on the various remnant Indian groups of Delaware and southern New Jersey and their descendants. They have an exceptional wealth of information here.
Caroline County MD forms the western border of Kent County DE and several of the Kent County Families migrated from there into Delaware in the early-mid 19th centuries, specifically the COKERS and the CARTY/CARTERS.
