John died in 1776. Letters of Administration on his estate were granted to his father, John Durham Sr., on the 19th of June. Also signing the papers were his brother, Whittenton Durham and Daniel Durham (probably another brother).

In 1783 Rebecca Durham (mentioned in the 1788 will of John Durham Sr. as the guardian of his 2 grandchildren) appeared in the Kent Co. Orphans Court requesting guardianship over a minor child named John Durham. It is possible that this child was John Jr.'s son. We do not know the name of his other child nor do we know if Rebeccah was their mother.
