Norris Edward Durham was born the illegitimate son of Mamie Durham . He was born on 23 Aug 1917 in Cheswold, Kent, Delaware. He died on 3 Jan 1998 of renal failure. He was buried on 8 Jan 1998 in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, Kent, Delaware.
He was raised by Mamie's brother Wilson Lee Durham and his wife Lulu Ray Beckett and considered them his "parents" although he knew Mamie was his mother and considered Mamie's subsequent children as his sisters.
Norris worked for the Delaware State Highway Dept. for over 26 years before retiring in 1979.
He was married first to Mary E. Saunders, daughter of Elmer Saunders and Harriet Amelia Gould. They had 2 children:

- Norris Edward Durham Jr.
Norris later married Dorothy Lucille Holden daughter of Richard Barton Holden and Sadie Rabon. Dorothy was born on 13 Nov 1930 in Shallotte, North Carolina . She died on 21 May 2009 in Kent General Hospital, Dover, Kent, Delaware. She was buried on 26 May 2009 in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover, Kent, Delaware. Norris and Dorothy had no children.
