He was born in Sussex Co., DE. on 2 April, 1869 and died 8 January, 1939. His photo appears in the Nanticoke Indian Photo Book although the dates listed there are incorrect.
His first wife was Lillie Mae Harmon who died on 23 April, 1893 and was buried at the Indian Mission Church. Her grave marker lists her age as 18 years, 2 months and 13 days.
John later married Lovenia Prudence Norwood who was born on 22 February, 1877 and died 17 October, 1928. John and Lovenia had the following children:
- Mattie Jackson married Eldridge Johnson (b.c. 1889)
Lovenia and John are also buried at Indian Mission Church.
Although born in Sussex Co., DE John lived for several years in New York City.
