Francis Lawrence Jackson was the son of Levin Jackson and Caroline Coker . He was born in Wilmington DE. on 7 April, 1922. He attended Howard High School. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he returned to Lincoln University receiving a BS degree in Chemistry.
After working for Rohm & Haas and ARCO Petroleum, he retired in 1984.
He and Araminta had one child:
Francis died on 28 May, 1998 (his late mother's birthday) after a three year battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Although severely limited and dependent on oxygen, he was able to remain in his own home doing the things he loved most (reading, listening to music and doing crossword puzzles) up until his last hospitalization. He was buried on 6 June, next to his parents at Immanuel Union (Manship) Church in Cheswold, DE.
On 26 June, 1948 he married Araminta Morgan , daughter of Edward Morgan and Mamie Durham, in Philadelphia. They lived first on north 54th Street, then on north 62nd Street before moving to the Mt. Airy section of the city in 1964.
