Immanuel Union M.E. Church
"Manship"
Immanuel Union Church was built in the late 19th century and is located at "Bishop's Corner" on Rt.42 just west of Rt. 13 in Cheswold DE. Unoffcially it is referred to as "Manship Church" and its graveyard is filled, almost exclusively, with members of the Kent Co. mixed blood community.

According to Weslager's Delaware's Forgotten Folk", an earlier church, built around 1830, occupied the site before being replaced by this newer church built around 1875.

Unfortunately, many people buried at Manship have no markers or else original the markers have been lost. I have not yet had access to the original church records so the below list is only a partial listing of names and dates. I have also not yet had a chance to go back and double check these notes for accuracy against the actual markers. I am planning to do that shortly.

For a more detailed listing visit the Mitsawokett site .
