Edward Morgan

Edward Morgan, the son of James K. Morgan and Araminta Sisco , was born in Cheswold DE on 6 September, 1894. He moved to southern New Jersey and married Alice LOATMAN whose family had originated in Kent Co. but who moved to south Jersey in the 19th century.

After the death of his first wife, he married Mamie Durham who was born in Cheswold, DE on 17 December, 1897. They lived in Fairton, NJ.

The children of Edward and Mamie were

  1. Selina Arnetta Morgan was born in Fairton, NJ in 1921. She lived for awhile in Wilmington DE but later returned to NJ and married Carl W. Pierce. She and Carl lived in Bridgeton and Elmer NJ and had 2 daughters :
    1. Diana Pierce
    2. Patricia Pierce

    Carl died in Philadelphia on 14 December, 1992. Selina died in Elmer, NJ on Dec. 8, 2002 and is buried at Fernwood Cemetery.

  2. Araminta Morgan (1923- 1999 ) married Francis L. Jackson

  3. Naomi Morgan was born in Fairton, NJ on 28 September, 1924. She contracted TB of the hip joint and died at the Children's Seashore House in Atlantic City on 7 November, 1929. She is buried in the same grave as her mother at the Manship Church in Cheswold, DE.

  4. Mary Elva Morgan (1927 - 2001). Married Ernest Glendon Mosley (1929-2004) They lived in Elmer, NJ and both are buried at Manship Church in Cheswold, DE. They raised 2 children.
    1. Carol Mosley who married John Davies
    2. Ernest Glendon Mosley, Jr.
After Mamie's death on 31 October, 1929 and the death of his daughter, Naomi, several days later on 7 November, 1929 from TB, Edward left his three surviving daughters in the care of his family and went to Wilmington looking for work.

He married a third time, Daisy Cruz, and brought Selina and Araminta to to live with him in Wilmington. Daughter Mary Elva stayed behind in NJ with Edward's brother, Leomond Morgan. Edward and Daisy later divorced.

After WWII, Edward moved to Philadelphia and worked at the Ford Motor plant in Chester until he retired. He moved from 54th Street in West Philadelphia to Upsal St. in the Mt. Airy section of the city.

He died on 25 January, 1976 at a nursing home in Vineland NJ and was buried at the Fordsville Church in NJ in a plot belonging to his brother, Leomond.
