John H. Morgan

John H. Morgan was born in Kent Co., DE on 17 February, 1840 according to his death certificate. He was the son of William H. Morgan and Annie Saunders. He married Mary Ann Coker , daughter of James Coker and Eliza Jackson.

While living in Kenton Hundred in 1876, John and his father William H. Morgan purchased separate tracts of land from the estate of the deceased Robert Dean according to Orphans Court Records (Book C, pgs. 383 & 390). John's new lands, described as being in Kenton Hundred, cost $341.36. John's brother-in-law, Moses Coker, was married to Robert Dean's daughter Mary Ann Dean.

John and Mary Ann Morgan lived on this farm, which is recalled to have been along the main highway, until the times of their deaths.

The only known child was:

John died on 21 January, 1925 at 4PM . His death certificate lists his race as "Moor", his parents as William Morgan and Annie Saunders, his occupation as "farmwork" and the cause of death as "chronic intestinal nephritis".

His wife Mary Ann had died on 20 September, 1923. Both are buried at Manship (Immanuel Union) Church in Cheswold, DE.
