James H. Munce was born in Kent Co., DE on 27 August, 1837. He was the son of Robert Munce, Jr. and Jemima Hansor.

On 14 October, 1862 he married Hester Annie Cork who was the daughter of Peregrine Cork and Hannah Concilor. Hester was born in Kent County DE on January 4, 1837. She died on August 23, 1904 Photo of Hester Annie Cork c. 1870 courtesy of Harry Muncey

James adapted the spelling of the family's name to MUNCEY and his descendants continue that spelling today. It is possible that Muncey was the original spelling of the name.

James and Hester had the following children:
