Margaret Munce was born in Kent Co., DE sometime around 1816. She was the daughter of Robert Munce Sr. . Her mother's name is unknown but it was possibly also Margaret.

Sometime before 1838 she married Joel Durham who was born in Kent Co., DE in July 1818, the son of Elisha Durham and Hester Concilor.

Margaret and Joel had the following children:

Margaret died on 14 April, 1895 in Kent Co. Her death certificate lists her race as "mulatto", her age as "78 years" and her residence as "near Kenton". Her husband, Joel, went to live with Margaret's nephew, Isaiah Durham and his family in Little Creek Hundred. Joel died on 17 February 1909.
