Leona Seeney
Feb. 24, 1963

Killed in (a) crash yesterday were Leona Seeney, 26, of Cheswold, killed as a utility pole, severed by the impact, fell across her after she was thrown from the automobile.
Miss Seeney was killed when a car driven by her brother, Mason, 31, also of Cheswold, hit a slippery spot and went out of control, police said. The accident occurred at 3:35 p.m. on County Route 104, about a mile west of Dover.
The car spun around, police said, careened over a ditch and through a field, striking the pole. The driver, also thrown from the car, escaped with minor injuries.
State police said Miss Seeney probably would not have been injured seriously if the pole had not fallen on her. She was pronounced dead at Kent General Hospital, Dover of internal bleeding due to a crushed abdomen.
