Orphans Court records cover many of the legal matters concerning the welfare of orphaned (i.e. fatherless) children.
If a person died intestate, the Orphans Court would handle the sale and/or distribution of any land or property and/or the value of any yearly rents with the proceeds going to the heirs. It would also assign any necessary guardians for minor children.
I am only just begining to work on this section and hope to include more as time goes by.
