15 December, 1785

In the name of God Amen. I Nehemiah Handzer of Kent County in the Delaware State being weak in body but of sound memory blessed be God do this day December the fifteenth One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty five make publish and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first I give to my beloved Son Nehemiah Handzer a tract or piece of land lying on the north side of the South main branch of Dover River in the fork of the Jones's to be divided by the drain called Caleb's Slash being the same whereon he now lives for an inheritance during h is natural life and after his deceased to his oldest son lawfully begotten and after the determination of his life to his oldest son or sons lawfully issuing and to the eldest of such son and sons to be preferred and to take before the younger forever and for default of such issues to remain to my own right heirs in tale forever. Also I give to my wife Johannah Handzar all that tract or such of land wherein I live from the aforesaid Calebs Slash together with all my buildings and orchards during her natural Life but not to clear any more land nor make no waste or destructions of Timber nor buildings and after her decease I give the said lands and buildings to my grand daughters Elizabeth Handzar and Jamima Handzar to them and their heirs lawfully begotten forever the Elder (unclear) and to take before the younger one in the same manner as my (unclear) land is limited to my son Nehemiah Handzars and after debts are paid I give one third part of my moveable estate to my wife Johanna Handzar and I also give the other two thirds of moveable estate to my son Nehemiah Handzar and to my afore named grand daughters Elizabeth and Jemima to be equally divided between all my other heirs have already (unclear) their portions and I make constitute and ordain my wife Johanna Handzar and my friend Peter Miller Sr. my lawful Executors and Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament the day and year above (unclear). Signed sealed and pronounced by the (unclear) Nehemiah Handzar as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who were present at the signing and sealing thereof. The several interlinations was interlined by me Daniel Beliter before the will was signed.

The first Acc't Passed on the Estate of Nehemiah Hanzer, dec'd Nov.-87
30 November, 1787

To the Worshipful Judges of the Court of Orphans in Dover now Sitting for the Couty aforesaid, Johanah Hanzor amd Peter Miller the Executrix and Executor of the last will and Testament of Nehemiah Hanzer, late of this County, Dec'd. Beg leave at this time to render before the Court an Acc't of their settlement & distribution of the Personal Estate, goods & Chattels of the said estate to this Time.

The Executors of this Estate, charge themselves with the following Sums and make themselves D. for the same to (unclear) Estate
To the Amount of the Inventory of Appraisement as returned....91..14..8
