The Last Will and Testament of Nehemiah Hanzer of Indian River Hundred Sussex County State of Delaware:
I Nehemiah Hanzer considering the uncertainty of this Mortal life and being Sick and weak of body but of Sound mind and memory blessed be Almighty God for the Same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: FIRST I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jemima Hanzer after all my Just debts and funeral charges are paid all my Lands whereon I now live together with all my Personal property Except one bed & furniture hereafter mentioned to her during her natural life and at her death to go and Decend(?) to my proper heirs at law. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto Sally Ann Gurley(?) the bed and furniture above mentioned and Excepted out of my wife's legacy and lastly I do hereby appoint my wife Jemima Hanzer Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Seal this Thirteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and forty Two. - 1842
