Information received on 12/23/98 from Stacey Emeharole suggests that Warren Wright was born c.1803, the son of Nicholas and Mary Wright who were married in St. George's Chapel, Sussex Co., DE on November 21,1799.
Warren was a farmer and a wheelwright who married Maria Sockum (born circa 1808). It is possible that Maria was the sister of Levin Sockum.
The 1830 census records for Broad Creek Hundred in Sussex Co., DE. list Warren Wright (age 24-36) in a household with 1 female, presumably his wife Maria, (age 10-24) and 3 males (under 10).
Based on information supplied by Sterling Street, an Orphans Court petition filed on December 28, 1881 lists the disposition of Warrens property and the names of his surviving children.
From this we can conclude that Warren and Maria had the following children although the later children would have been born when Maria was well over 40:
According to the 1840 census, Warren and his family had moved to Broadkill Hundred, Sussex Co., DE. Their race is listed as "M" and Warren and his wife are shown with 9 children still at home. Enumerated nearby are Walter Wright (born between 1816-1830) in a household of 6 and Nicholas Wright (born between 1816-1830) in a household of 2. Clearly these 3 were related but it is not yet known, how. They were probably brothers since Warren's son, Walter, was not born until 1836.
Warren Wright died in Lewes/Rehoboth Hundred, Sussex Co. in November 1865. His widow, Maria, died on October 18, 1881.
